A skill is a set of written instructions that Mist follows to do one job, such as summarizing promo code orders or auditing a theme for accessibility. Run a skill, and Mist does the job the same way every time.

Where skills come from

Each skill shows where it comes from:
  • Community: skills Fluid publishes in the public Mist Skills repository. Mist downloads the latest versions in the background each time it starts. See Mist Skills for the full list.
  • Built-in: skills that come with the app.
  • Local: skills you create or copy. They’re saved as files in the Fluid/skills folder in your home folder.
You can’t change a Community or Built-in skill directly. To change one, Mist makes a Local copy for you to edit.

Browse skills

In the sidebar, click Skills. The library lists:
  • Pinned: skills you pinned.
  • My Skills: your local skills.
  • A section for each category, such as Finance, Themes or Sales.
Type in Search skills to filter the library. Click a skill to read what it does before you run it. Each skill card has a Skill options menu with Duplicate, Pin or Unpin, and Delete.

Run a skill

1

Open the skill

In the Skills library, click the skill.
2

Read it

Read the instructions, so you know what Mist will do.
3

Click Run

Click Run. Mist sends the skill to the chat and starts working.
To run the skill against a particular project, click the arrow next to Run and pick a project under Run on…. If the project isn’t on your computer yet, the option reads Download project and run, and Mist downloads the project first. You can also run a skill from the chat. Type /, then pick a row marked Skill. See Slash commands.
Skills can make real changes to your company, such as updating products or publishing a theme. Read a skill before you run it. To explore without any risk, turn on Safe Mode first.

Create a skill

1

Open the New skill dialog

In the Skills library, click New skill. You can also press Cmd+Shift+S, or Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows.
2

Name it

Enter a Name, and an optional Description.
3

Choose where it appears

Limit to your company is checked, so the skill appears only while that company is active. Uncheck it to use the skill in every company.
4

Create it

Click Create. Mist creates the skill as a Markdown file. Write its instructions, then click Save.
You can also ask Mist in the chat to write a skill for you.

Edit a skill

Open the skill and click Edit this skill. Make your changes, then click Save, or press Cmd+S. For a Community or Built-in skill, Mist asks Duplicate to edit? first. It copies the skill to your Local skills, and you edit the copy. To copy a skill’s instructions, click Copy skill body.

Schedule a skill

You can run a skill on a timer, such as every weekday at 9am.
1

Open its schedules

Open the skill and click Schedule this skill.
2

Create a schedule

Click New schedule. Choose Recurring or One-time.
3

Set the time

For a recurring schedule, pick a preset, such as Every hour, Every day at 9am, Every weekday at 9am, Every Monday at 9am or First of the month, or enter a Cron expression. For a one-time run, pick a date and time under Run at.
4

Choose what happens if Mist was closed

Under If Mist was closed at the scheduled time, choose Run once on next launch or Skip the missed run.
5

Save it

Click Create schedule.
Each schedule shows when it runs next and when it last ran. Use Run now, Pause, Resume and Delete to manage it. Recent scheduled runs lists the latest runs.
Scheduled skills run on your computer. A schedule runs only while Mist is open and its company is the active company. If Mist was closed, it catches up at most once.

Use Mist’s skills with other AI agents

The community skills are public, and many of them work with other coding agents too. See Mist Skills.
